Idea #001: Yelp For Trustworthiness

Yelp for Human Trustworthiness

Problem: When dealing with new people, you're not sure if the person can be trusted. What if you can see any person's trustworthiness score before transacting with them?

Description: A social media smartphone app that measure the perceived trustworthiness of an app user. However, instead of having 'bad reviews' like Yelp, there is only positive 'trustworthiness' scores. Comment based reviews is not compulsory, answering questions for measuring trustworthiness is compulsory. In other words, no one on the app is negative trustworthiness.

Questions:

1. What motivates someone to open this app to review a person?

  • Similar to how we are motivated to stalk an individual on social media to figure out their background.
  • Users would open the app when considering/evaluating who to JV/partner/collaborate in business?
  • Users would open the app before making a purchase decision to validate the person's identity
2. If the motivation is anger, will most of the users have negative reviews?

  • Unlike Yelp, people will not score trustworthiness when angry but when successful transaction. A successful transaction is when paymaster pays on time and the supplier gives product/service on time, on budget and at agreed quality
  • This incentivize both party to record their transaction and rate each other's trustworthiness to increase both party's credibility
  • Unlike Yelp, the app is more like a badge of honor signifying your trustworthiness. Think of it like testimonial from word of mouth but validated & recorded with an app.
  • In other words, it's a privilege to be on the app
  • Instead of having 'bad reviews' like Yelp, there is only positive 'trustworthiness' scores. In other words, no one on the app has negative scores, instead only varying degrees of positive trustworthiness scores
3. The reviewer's name will be private, yes?
  • Yes, the reviewer's will be private
  • Although, we can allow public comments as additional testimonial (optional feature)

4. Can the person remove bad reviews? If yes, how?
  • In order for the app to succeed, the app must have no indication of NOT trustworthiness
  • Meaning trustworthiness score starts from 1 to infinity
  • Meaning, bad reviews are not allowed in the first place. And if a user, still makes a bad comment, it will be removed. Any real world complaints/conflicts should be handled by those two parties. Public shaming is not allowed.

5. Do we need someone to approve reviews? Because a person can be review-bomb?
  • Essentially No
  • Comment based reviews is not compulsory, answering questions for measuring trustworthiness is compulsory.
  • comment based reviews can be locked until the user achieved a certain level of trustworthiness. (Optional feature)
